almost 32 weeks

How cute is this necklace!!!!

In other news, I'm investigating natural childbirth options.  Zampano and I will be watching The Business of Being Born this week when our beloved Netflix sends it our way.  Who knew giving birth was so darn controversial these days...  It really says something to me that when I told my OB that I was in medical school, he looked me straight in the eye and said "Go into dermatology, not obstetrics."  Didn't even crack a smile when he said it, either.  Yikes.

I figure that women have been having babies since the dawn of time without epidurals or pitocin...  Why can't I do so as well?

Wilco / Jeff Tweedy

Totally loving Jeff Tweedy's Sunken Treasure Live audio from the DVD!  I've always been a sucker for a man with a guitar. :)  Favorite tracks - One By One (Woody Guthrie cover) and Shot In the Arm.

31 weeks

Just got home from Target where we bought our first little package of newborn diapers and a pack of wipes.  Gotta be ready in case baby comes around early!  We will also be looking at car seats over the next few weeks.  Can't bring baby home without that!

Zampano has done a magnificent job of cleaning out the baby's room.  It's not really set up to be a nursery yet (we still have no crib) but now that we have the co-sleeper that's not really such a high priority.  The changing table is set up and we just need a changing pad to put the baby on.

We've been going on some nice long walks in the park for exercise lately (usually 3 miles) and I've been having a lot of pelvic pain.  Baby is heavy!!!  So I have one of those lovely sexy maternity support belts to wear, and it helps a lot.  I'm still sore a lot but it prevents me from screaming out in pain every time I sit or stand.

I've heard from other moms on Ravelry that first time moms usually deliver a week and a day or so after their "due date" so I'm preparing myself for those tough last few weeks.  Life will be so great after the USMLE is over with, I don't think I'll know what to do with myself!  Hopefully I will be relaxing and knitting lots of little baby hats and sweaters!

Oh, by the way...  About David Duchovny...  His appearance on 3 episodes of Twin Peaks are quite possibly the highlight of the whole series.  I was really, really surprised when he first made his appearance.  Can't say more than that.  It was awesome.

30 weeks

Ugh.  I am a monstrosity.  The acne has never been worse.  I think I found my first stretch mark today.  And I am fat and getting fatter.  Even the maternity pants are starting to scream out in protest.

But in good news, I passed my Gestational Diabetes screen.  YAY!  Plus, now I can hear the baby's heartbeat pretty clearly with my stethoscope.  It's nice, even though it's totally unnecessary since she kicks me every two minutes.

Weird.  My printer just made a bunch of noises like it was cleaning the print heads and then powered itself off.  And it won't turn back on.  Spooky.

Zampano and I are making our way through 30 episodes of Twin Peaks.  Totally awesome stuff, I highly recommend you check it out if you've never seen it.  Supposedly David Duchovny does a few episodes near the middle of Season 2.  Haven't gotten there yet.  Can't wait to see what he does.

I'm feeling somewhat better now that I'm taking iron supplements and B6 every day.  Still tired, but less so.  The ladies on the Pregtastic podcast recommended a few other nutritional supplements that I want to try.  Maybe those will help too.

I think part of the reason I'm not sleeping well is that Baby Girl loves to kick me when I'm laying down.  A few days ago I woke up and she was apparently practicing her punching because all I felt was BANG!...  BANG!....  She was hitting me in 2 different places, back and forth...  I think this kid is really going to be something else.... :)

In other news, I've found out that I'm anemic... Hopefully getting more iron will help me have some more energy!

Also, the guest post on Dooce today is especially funny. I'm sure Zampano will get to experience many of the same sorts of things once Baby Girl is born. We're even more unsure about a name now. As Zampano said last night, "no name is good enough for my little girl!" We thought we had it nailed down a few weeks ago but now we're not so sure. Suggestions?

28 weeks, 3 days

I AM SO TIRED!!!!! Just a few words before I collapse into bed at the late hour of 9pm. The "honeymoon period" of the second trimester is definitely over. I'm tired all day long now. Today I get up, have breakfast, head over to school, sit down at the computer and immediately want to take a nap. After lunch, I am tired again. And after a few hours of feeling pretty good and productive, I had dinner and barely made it through. THE SUN IS STILL IN THE SKY, PEOPLE.

Part of the problem is that I wake up every day at 5:30 am. The happy sun comes pouring through the windows and I wake up. Horrifyingly awake. That would be wonderful if I wasn't married to the world's greatest night owl who is practically still awake at that hour. And I love to stay awake with him and watch movies and hang out.

In Baby Girl news, she is more active than ever. Normally her kicks are at or below the level of my navel, but today, as I was sitting in the computer lab, I felt her kicks way, way higher than that. I was stunned! I didn't think she was that big yet, or that my uterus went up that high. I can feel her turning around and changing positions. It's the craziest thing ever.

Well, hopefully tomorrow will bring lots of energy for me and more good kicking from her. :)
